At WorkWeek, we understand that reliable internet access isn't always guaranteed on-site. That's why our mobile app features Offline Mode, allowing employees to clock in and out even without an internet connection. Here’s how it works and what you need to know:
What is Offline Mode?
Offline Mode ensures that the WorkWeek app functions seamlessly, even when the device has no internet connection or is in an area with poor signal. This means:
- Clocking in/out without internet: Whether you're in a remote location or experiencing low signal, the app will still record your clock-ins and clock-outs.
- Test it yourself: You can switch your phone to Airplane Mode to see how it works without internet or signal.
How to Use Offline Mode
- No special setup required: Offline Mode is automatic. If your device detects no internet connection or poor signal, the app will switch to Offline Mode.
- Location tracking in Offline Mode: While the app can still track your location, it might take longer to pinpoint your exact location in areas with bad signal.
- Bad signal + no internet: Location tracking may be slower.
- No internet but good signal: Location tracking will be quicker.
Syncing Offline Data
- Manual Sync Required: Unlike some apps that run constantly in the background, WorkWeek doesn’t automatically sync data to avoid unnecessary use of memory, battery, and data.
- For offline data to sync, the employee must open the WorkWeek app while connected to a stable internet connection.
- Once the app is opened with a good connection, all offline clock-ins and clock-outs will sync to the dashboard.
Important Notes:
- Check the "Offline Sync" tab: While offline, all clock-in/out data is saved to the "Offline Sync" tab, which you can access at the bottom right of the app.
- Avoid double clock-ins: Employees should check this tab to ensure their clock-in has been recorded. If an entry is already present, they should not clock in again to avoid duplicates.
- Mobile app only: Offline Mode is exclusive to the WorkWeek mobile app. The web link and dashboard do not support offline capabilities, requiring an internet connection.
Key Benefits
- No disruptions: Employees can reliably clock in and out, ensuring accurate time tracking even in challenging environments.
- Efficient data use: The manual sync approach avoids background processes that could drain the device’s resources, ensuring a balance between functionality and performance.
With Offline Mode, WorkWeek keeps your team’s operations smooth and reliable, regardless of connectivity challenges.
